Today was our first workout in the heat chamber. It can be summed up in two words…hot, and sweaty! All 24 of us are in this rather small circus style tent, which is located right next to the weight room at the Olympic Training Center. We lift weights, ride bikes, and do plyometrics in 95 degrees with approximately 75% humidity. The workout lasts about an hour, and there are 3 different circuits. Let’s just say that we are dripping afterwards! We are trying to get our bodies (and minds) used to the heat and humidity in Beijing. It is fun to do this type of experimental workout as a team, and we definitely make it fun. We also weigh ourselves before and after, and wear heart rate monitors. Yeah, this is the real deal! Next time though…we’re bringing music!
We watched USA Women’s Soccer beat Brazil 1-0 tonight from the sideline at University of San Diego. It was a very fun game to watch, and it got us in the Olympic spirit as it was the women’s last game before Beijing. Unfortunately, one of their star forwards got injured. We would like to send positive vibes her way for a strong and steady recovery. You never know what the future holds, and that is why we, along with the women’s soccer team, are shooting for Gold this August. Anything is possible!
Hey girls!
Its sounds exhausting and exhilirating at the same time. I hope you guys crush and can’t wait to watch the games! Good luck and way to represent! I am so proud of you!

Ladies,
I am enjoying the blog; keep up the good work.
Lauren, I am having a few good laughs envisioning you working out in that sweatbox tent! I know how much you love the heat. I know your sense of humor must be kicking in. I wish I were there to hear your one liners!
By the way, Kim and I are going to the lake today and will be thinking of you!
Good luck in Beijing Lauren, Wyoming Seminary and the local field hockey community is proud of you.
As for you Silvetti. Who would have thought you and Lauren would be where you are? Congrats on all of your accomplishments. I enjoyed seeing you play in VA Beach. It is amazing to see how far the athletes from the valley have come. Keep a sense of humor in that tent!
